This section tells you more about how the Clamps work.
The Clamp values alter how the scanned bitmap in the Trace Layer is displayed and output:
The shades of gray in between these two values are interpolated between black and white - there is a smooth gradation of tone from the Black Clamp to the White Clamp.
In graphical form, their effect is as follows:
The White Clamp is mainly used to remove any unwanted dirt and blemishes from the bitmap. These are typically lighter than the pencil lines in the drawing. You can make them disappear by setting the White Clamp so it is darker than the blemishes and dirt, but lighter than the pencil lines.
The Black Clamp is typically used to alter the darkness of the drawn lines.
